MSCCN MilSpouse Job Club
Powered by the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN)
This month's meeting of the MSCCN MilSpouse Job Club will be held on November 30, 2010 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Whiting Pines Community Center located in off-base housing in Milton, FL.
This month's topic will be "Polishing Your Professional Image" which will include makeovers that make a difference, and five things that people do not pay attention to that typically have a big impact on what people think of you. This event is not just for those military spouses who are currently looking for a job, but also for those who are in leadership roles, volunteer positions, those who stay networking within their professional industry, or those who just want guidance on how to put their best foot forward in the business world.
We will have image (dress, hair, and make-up) consultants present at this event to help advise us on steps we can take that have a positive impact on the way we are seen in the professional world.
Sometimes we forget how important first impressions really are. It is imperative that we pay attention to the image we are portraying to others as this can make or break the opportunities we have before us.
Join us and learn how to control what your image says about you! RSVP today!
Instructions to the event are provided. See below for additional information on the MSCCN MilSpouse Job Club.
Club Overview
The MilSpouse Job Club will offer a training platform where military spouses can learn to network, develop their job strategy, and receive support from other participants. Workshops are available to all spouses within the North Florida and Gulf Coast regions.
During each meeting there will be informational resources and activity sessions designed toward improving the job readiness and search processes. Participating spouses will be able to share their experiences, seek and offer advice from other participants, and give and receive encouragement. The club will:
§ Offer a networking opportunity. Spouses can share contacts and job leads.
§ Educate participants on job search strategies. Focus weekly on different job search topics including Organization and Time Management, Resume and Cover Letters, Marketing Yourself, Job Fairs, Interviewing, Follow Up, and Comparing Offers.
§ Develop job buddy groups to encourage each other and share experiences.
§ Develop professional groups where participants can collaborate and go to professional networking meetings together so they don’t have to go alone.
§ Help participants with career development by introducing resources for educational opportunities, career development, work at home options, and informational interviews.
§ Introduce guest speakers to offer advice and expertise on job search, interviewing, and career development.
§ Work with local companies and hiring managers to give job seekers tips and to draw from the group for hiring.
§ Club Graduation where hired participants share their success stories.
§ Job swap program for participants moving to a new area.
§ Job search assistance, interactive activities, corporate networking, volunteer to career program, internships, virtual job shadowing, and other programs offered through the Fleet and Family Support Centers and the MSCCN.
Join us for the fun! Bring your resume and your questions, and come prepared to make headway in your job search or career advancement plan.
